SPEAKEASY ISSUE/04: 13.09.2025

Here it is again.
For the first time in 2025.

The Speakeasy returns to Blog don’t Lie and does so in September on the occasion of the presentation of the American eyewear brand SMITH.

We'd launched the bait a few weeks earlier through our channels, and the deal was made.
On Saturday, September 13th, we said to ourselves, "Why close the shop at 7:30 PM when we can extend our time and show the GNARI the new glasses we've just received from America?"

Too easy for us, all we had to do was make the phone ring to the drinks man, Ale Sabatti, and the vinyl man, Tony Boy (He doesn't want to be called Antonio).

Alessandro, creator and founder of Sabatti Aperitivo, immediately guided us towards two drinks to pour for the boys. The Sabatti Tonic and the Sabatti Smith. The latter was inspired by one of the glasses we presented that evening.

The Sabatti Smith was designed by observing the MOMENTUM BLACK + CHROMAPOP RED MIRROR LENS glasses. Its lenses are the same color as the cocktail. This is thanks to the technique and skill of Alessandro, who mixed: Sabatti Apertivo, Campari, Fernet Branca, Cynar, Pink Grapefruit Soda, Ice and Lemon.

Seeing him in action was both thrilling and exciting. Especially since on the other side, in the window (not in the sense you usually mean when you're talking about Amsterdam), Tony Boy was cranking up the volume.

Tony, a seasoned DJ and 90s lover, showed up with his vinyl records and as soon as he put on a pair of Smith sunglasses we got into the mood.

The street, which was preparing to welcome the Saturday night crowd, began to vibrate. The shop, or rather, as we like to call it, the black cube on Via Buonarroti, filled up with people curious to drink, try on clothes, and change their perspective with colored lenses.

Our friend Stefy first tried to figure out what she was about to drink, then she focused on how to enrich her wardrobe (the Palmes piece remains fucking devastating).

We love it when the cube comes to life and bounces until it gets dark. DJ Tony Boy dropped some killer tracks like "String of Life" by Soul Central, "My My My" by Armand Van Helden, "So Many Times" by Gadjo, "Where Is The Love" by Kamasustra, and "Blues Brunch" by the legendary Coccoluto.

It's impossible to stay still.

We've started releasing some new pieces for the Fall/Winter season. But don't rush, our warehouse still has plenty of gems in stock.

As usual, Tony pushed us even further with the schedule (don't tell whoever took the royalties), so all that's left to do is make sure we meet again at the next SPEAKEASY.

Stay tuned, it'll be at the end of November (last year was a mess).
